The Problem

Lincoln University has an area of student accommodation totalling some 396 units in 5 separate blocks. Recently a new private development built opposite the university blocks caused the TV reception in 4 of the blocks to suddenly drop out badly.

The Solution

One of the blocks was not affected by the sudden drop in signal levels. It was felt that the best solution would be to use the good quality signal in the unaffected block and ‘pipe’ it to the other 4 buildings.

A strong sense of urgency was placed on the need to do this work taking into account the fact that the students in at least 3 of the blocks have had little or no reception at all since the new development was built opposite.

The buildings were surveyed Day 1, work commenced on Day 3 and the system was completed by Day 10 demonstrating Avonline’s ability to react quickly to a situation when the need arises.

We were delighted that the solution we provided produced excellent results with good quality signals made available to all those areas which had received poor reception previously.

Testimonial

“We called Avonline when the Television signal started to deteriorate in some of our Halls of Residence.

An Avonline Project Manager visited the site, quickly identified the cause of our problem and suggested a solution but, once the work was scheduled we discovered that the cables did not run straight between the Courts and we unfortunately we did not have any drawings.

Avonline’s project management team overcame these issues and installed a solution which effectively removed the problem. Engineers from Avonline have returned since to carry out the same solution to other areas of the halls and again have resolved those issues”

Andrew McGill, Head of Works at the University
